Welcome to Mimamsa Foundation for Indic Studies (MFIS) A Forum for Rigorous, Objective, Authentic and Inter-disciplinary Indic Studies
We are group of independent individuals committed to know India and its value system in an authentic ‘Indian Way’. We aim to conduct an objective and well-researched study of various facets integral to understand India. We intend to engage into a thorough and substantive discourse which is essential for a genuine Indic Inquiry
We are not a “political opinion” website giving perspectives on contemporary political developments. We do not intend to prescribe or proscribe any particular party/organization. Nor do we confine ourselves to the accepted ideological silos. We are strictly ‘apolitical’ but firmly committed to the values that MFIS represents.
We aim to engage in rigorous research and reach out to larger audiences through well-researched articles, thematic articles series, research projects and much more. We hope to emerge as a platform that provides space to researchers to share their research insights about India with people at large.
Through workshops, courses and study groups - we intend to take the core research work of MFIS to students, researchers, scholars and interested individual and help build a credible Indic Discourse.
We actively engage with young students and researchers to popularize Indic methods and discourses to help provide them with framework and prism to study and understand India in an authentic Indian way. MFIS - Indic Cafe Study Circle is a unique way to collectively study and build a credible Indic discourse.
We routinely engage with eminent scholars in the domain of Indic Field - We organize lecture series with such eminent scholars to learn from them to keep ourselves updated about the Indic Research..!!
Mimamsa attempts to provide Bharatiya alternative to the entrenched socio-political, religio-spiritual and historical narrative prominent in academia today. Primarily a bilingual (English and Marathi) forum, it hosts articles, special features, interviews and in-depth analysis from the Domain Scholars. Mīmāṁsā attempts to build a “four-pillared” template to study India and Indian Value system.

Article critically analyses Vivekananda's ideas of nationalism & explores the reasons behind the need for a national identity. It argues that, for Vivekananda, India’s spiritual moorings embodied in Vedanta serves as the basis for national identity.
The 5th Justice Ranade Memorial Lecture by Dr. Meenakshi Jain examines how British colonial rule dismantled India’s indigenous systems of justice, education, and knowledge—and how this legacy still shapes Indian institutions today. Followed by an interaction with Dr. Uttara Sahasrabuddhe at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. The lecture explores critical questions such as: What happened to India’s traditional courts and dispute-resolution systems? How were indigenous schools, gurukuls, and learning networks sidelined? Who defined “modern” knowledge—and why was indigenous wisdom labeled “backward”? Was colonial reform truly about progress, or was it a tool of control? How does this colonial legacy continue to shape Indian institutions and mindsets today?

“Today the increasing curiosity among the people to know more about our Ancient Indian Heritage needs a definite direction. Often, an inappropriate portrayal of traditional knowledge, due to ignorance or prejudices, leads to polarised opinions and confusion. Hence, a balanced, comprehensive and authentic analysis of traditional Indian heritage should be put forth. To study the manifold aspects of Indian Civilization is indeed a big task which is undertaken by MFIS. I wish MFIS all the success!”
