About MFIS Project
MFIS attempts to provide Bharatiya alternative to the entrenched socio-political, religio-spiritual and historical narrative prominent in academia today. Primarily a bilingual (English and Marathi) forum, it hosts articles, special features, interviews and in-depth analysis from the Domain Scholars. MFIS attempts to build a “four-pillared” template to study India and Indian Value system.
The four pillars are –

Saṁbhāṣā | संभाषा
All the academic activities and submission in the Mīmāṁsā will be classified according to these ‘four pillars’. We believe that this ‘four-pillared’ analysis provides a competent template to undertake a credible ‘Indic Inquiry.’
Four-Pillars Of Indic Inquiry
Vijñāna (विज्ञान):
India has a rich scientific heritage preserved in our knowledge tradition. Insightful deliberations on subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Medicinal Science, Architectural Science and Linguistics among others are found in ancient Indian texts. Even the term Vijnana i.e. ‘Vishista Jnana’ which means specific knowledge was used to refer to manifold aspects of Indian scientific inquiry. Under Vijnana, this rich scientific heritage of India will be studied and deliberated upon.
Darśana (दर्शन):
Darśana literally means ‘an instrument of realization.’ This pillar deliberates upon Philosophical, Theological and Spiritual thoughts which were imparted, flourished and practiced in India from time to time.
Itihāsa (इतिहास):
Itihāsa literally means “so indeed it was”. This pillar delves into variety of historical narratives about India and brings out authentic and well-researched Indian Perspectives on Indian History.
Saṁbhāṣā (संभाषा):
Saṁbhāṣā literally means a ‘discourse’ or a ‘discussion.’ This pillar inquires into political, social and economic strands of the Indian thinking and brings to light some of the prominent debates, discourses and propositions emanating from the Indian thinkers or having direct resonance to Indian realities.
Center for Interdisciplinary Indic Research
Centre for Interdisciplinary Indic Research (CIIR) is the core research cluster at the MFIS which hosts, primarily, the research articles classified under the four-pillar template of MFIS. The research articles are essentially inter-disciplinary in their focus and approach to comprehensively address the subject crucial for Indic Inquiry. The cluster also hosts Special Articles Series on thematic issues to comprehensively address the breadth and the depth of a particular topic. The flagship initiative under this Centre is the annual Justice Ranade Memorial Lecture organized each year on 16th January - which is the death anniversary of Justice Ranade - as a tribute to exemplary, scholarly and visionary work of Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade.
Centre for Indic Learning
Centre for Indic Learning (CIL) is platform through which, we at MFIS, attempt to directly engage with students, researchers and interested individuals with a purpose of developing rooted Indic perspectives and research skills through carefully developed and curated Courses and Workshops. These courses and workshops are conducted by the scholars and eminent intellectuals of their individual disciplines The courses and workshops at CIL are developed with due deliberations with the scholars and are regularly updated as per the feedback from the scholars and participants. The flagship initiative of the CIL is the Indic Café, which directly engages with students and researchers in a unique deliberative way, to collectively ponder on the core issues pertaining to Indic Research and Studies.
Centre for Promotion of Indic Knowledge
Centre for Promotion of Indic Knowledge (CPIK) is the primary outreach forum of MFIS. Through CPIK, we attempt to popularise the Indic discourse through, interviews, podcasts, lecture series and much more. The four verticals of CPIK are MFIS Perspectives, MFIS Dialogues, MFIS Conversations and MFIS Special Lecture Series – and they work as key vehicles of taking the Indic discourse and engaging with people at large.
Our Logo
Mimamsa logo has three components. Lotus – a symbol of Indian culture and tradition – is at the centre of our Logo. The base of the lotus is an unfurled book which represents the strong foundation of Indic thoughts, wisdom and value system. With firmly grounded thoughts, the pure knowledge and wisdom gets manifested and is represented by the lotus. From the central petal of the lotus emerges a humanly figure symbolising an individual who, unfettered by prejudices, is ready to study and understand India with strong foundation of Indic value system rooted in deep and objective study. Logo represents the very essence of Mimamsa where through the unwavering foundation of Indian thoughts and pure knowledge, we aim to bring forth the well researched, objective discourse about India.
