Author of numerous books on Yoga practice and philosophy, he has relentlessly worked in spreading the ancient technique of Yoga. On 6 March 2007, Paramhansa Niranjananda Saraswati of Bihar Yoga, initiated him to Rushi Sannayasa (part of higher sannayasa tradition) and gave new name Rushi Dharmajyoti. He founded Yoga Vidya Dham in 1978 and since then it has been working as a Non Profit Organization dedicated to impart Yogic knowledge and practice to people with over 150 branches in Maharashtra alone along with 8 in Karnataka and 7 in Eastern part of India. For his phenomenal contribution in spreading the Yoga vidya, he was awarded with “Prime Minister’s Award for outstanding contribution towards promotion and development of YOGA” in 2018. In an exclusive conversation with Akshay Ranade, Co-Founder of Mimamsa – An Indic Inquiry, he discusses various aspects of Yoga Therapy and its necessity in contemporary times.
